Question:

Command-line driver installer stays in memory when using -cm or -nomsg switches

Answer:

Command-line driver installer stays in memory when using -cm or -nomsg switches

Summary

When installing the command-line version of the HASP Device Driver for Windows, the process stays in the memory after completing the installation. No error message is displayed, as expected when using the aforementioned switches.

More Info

This known issue (TD #4863) is planned to be solved in the next release.

Workaround

To terminate this process, either use the Task Manager or reboot the machine. However, this is not essential, as the hanged process doesn't affect functionality and can be safely ignored. Another option you can use is to download from the contrib. site a fixed –cm switch.

Applies to

  • HASP4 command-line driver - hinstall.exe v4.102.5.22
  • HASP HL command-line driver - haspdinst.exe v5.22

Note: This issue also applies to the Hardlock driver installer.

Question:

How many users can connect to a software that is protected by HASP Net 250+? Is it unlimited?

Answer:

It is unlimited and was tested up to 250 users.

The implications of simultaneous multiple License Manager calls might affect the performances of legacy (HASP4 & HASP HL – Not SRM) License Manager.

Description:

HASP on Ubuntu 9.10

Content:

This tech tip is for queries on how to run HASP keys on Ubuntu 9.10 as the driver we have on our website is officially supported until 8.04 only.

Following are 2 workarounds which have worked for some customers:

1) sudo mount --bind /dev/bus/ /proc/bus/
sudo ln -s /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices /proc/bus/usb/devices

This appears to work OK but does have the downside of hiding /proc/bus.

Note:aksusbd must be restarted after key insertion otherwise the new key is not detected. Removal instead is detected fine.

2) Using sed replace two paths hardcoded into /usr/sbin/aksusbd as below:

/proc/bus/usb/ --> /dev/bus/usb/

/proc/bus/usb/devices --> /proc/bus/usb/devices

By doing this we have the HASP working without need of the mount commands in (1).

NOTE: These workarounds are till SRM 5.0 release only.

Hardlock and H4: Only Run-time, and only with latest API versions will be supported with Win7.

HASP SRM:
Enduser side will be supported. Meaning the protected application with API and Envelope will be supported. As for Runtime we already support it (5.75)

All of the vendor tools (BS, BSS, Envelope, ToolBox…) will not be officially supported on Win 7, however as per experience it works

Question:

HASP HL Memory Consumption

Answer:

Description:

While burning an order to a HASP SRM HL the following error appears.
Solution:

One of the reasons in which this error appears due to lack of memory space to encapsulate the licenses attributes.
When using a HASP HL, the memory containing the licenses is bound by the size  of physical memory chip which varies between the different hardware types. Except for the HASP HL Pro & Basic, all of the hardware  types have approximately 3700 Bytes  of memory for storing licenses

A license size is determined by the complexity of the license. The simplest license is a perpetual license locked to an HL key once adding more  attributes such as additional locking type as SL the license will consume more memory as it has more attributes from previous one.

Below you can find some test results demonstrating the different license types and how much licenses can be saved in the HL key.

Applies To:
HASP HL keys till HASP SRM v3.60
